Day 3 of P90x complete… I’m glad I do this alone at home… Me doing P90x must resemble a Special Olympics event. Not for long, Pappa is headed toward skinny… LOL
One of my readers asked describe my mental and physical changes and feelings as well.
Hmm… I’m sore but proud of it.
I have a since of accomplishment at the end of each workout.
I think my severe allergies are not helping, every time I sneeze and my body tightens up, I almost form a tear.
I’m still 100% resolute in losing this weight and getting into the best shape of my life.

Eat Less – Exercise More… WRONG, WRONG WRONG.
The multi-Billion dollar weight loss industry is lead by a bunch of profiteering idiots blinding the world with its MARKETING B.S. in order to make a quick buck. (Note: they are idiots on fitness, but genius business leaders and salesmen)
Here’s the truth from someone who considers himself above average intelligence and is digging his way through all this B.S. With you.
It’s not so much the volume of what you do either in eating or exercises, it’s the quality. This can go for everything else in life also.
If you are on the weight loss hamster wheel.

I can help you get off it.
It’s is simple.
Eat right! Not less!
Eat mostly green vegetables (raw when tolerable). Salads are great, try to start every meal with a large salad, order your dressing on the side and use no more than 2 tablespoons.
If you must eat meat, eat lean meat and make sure your vegetables weight more than your serving of meat. 8oz steak, 4oz of broccoli, 3 oz of carrots, 3 oz of salad. (that’s actually a good size salad, eat it first.).
Avoid, processed foods, (cheese, fried foods, sugars, anything with corn syrup, and flour based products etc…)
Drink water or unsweetened Tea. (green teas are great for you but are an acquired taste.)
Exercise right! Not more!
Lift weights. Weight lifting builds muscle and after all we’re not trying to lose weight anyway right… We are trying to lose body fat. Muscle burns calories and makes us look leaner and better.
If you are losing weight without resistance training you are burning muscle also. That’s one of the big reasons people get upset after losing XX lbs … They see themselves in the mirror and say, but I still look like I have to much fat.
You don’t need to go to the gym in the beginning, your body is weight, Lift it. Do push-ups, set-ups, 2 chair dips, and squats.
I’m still bad about the next one….
Use the tape measure not the scale!
One of the reasons people worry about weight lifting is that when they start their weight loss seems to slow way down.. Great… This is good news not bad. You are putting on muscle. Muscle burns calories. New muscle will help eat away the fat.
Let’s look at the math for a minute.
1 lb of new muscle mass burns between 35-50 calories a day (not at a total rest but just doing your normal activities)
Let’s take the low side. Putting on 1 lb of new muscle burns 35 calories per day, that’s 245 calories per week, or 1061 calories pre month. I don’t know about you but it takes me well over 1 hour to burn that off during a high intensity elliptical session.
If you where able to put on 10 lb of muscle that’s 10,610 or just over 2 lbs of fat your muscles need to consume for energy per month.
Now I’m not advocating just power lifting. I see a lot of power lifters that look horrible. But, as with most things in life, a balanced approach is best.
Eat healthy, lift weights, and do cardio for what its named after…building your cardiovascular system.
Cardio has its very, very important place. Building your inside muscles and it can effectively help you shed the lbs quicker.
Muscle tissue will keep you looking good and help keep those lbs. off.
None of it works if you eat garbage. The childhood saying is correct. You are what you eat.
I’m sharing with you what I’m learning, what I see going on in this industry and what seems to be working for me. I know some so called experts are going to disagree with me. I have one thing to say about this. “Follow the money”. Most so called experts are on the business end of weight loss. Most of them have never been overweight. I’m sure some of them have good intentions but the fact of the matter is that you must find what works for you.

Weight loss Market Worth Over 60 Billion This Year???
I’m going to save all of you some time, and some of you some money.
- 99.99% of weight loss products out there are B.S. and the .01% that have any value, are of very little value.
- Most of them are dangerous to your health.
- Just because a doctor wrote it doesn’t make it so. Doctors are people just like you and I and they are equally motivated by greed.
The fact that there is a 60 billion dollar market for weight loss and somewhere near 20 billion of that is spent on herbal supplements of some kind goes to show that Americans are looking for the quick fix. The magic pill. The easy way out.
STOP!!!!
Do you want to help fix the economy? Spend your 60 billion this year on fruits and vegetables. I’ve met some farmers and they are generally nice people who would thank you greatly. How about purchasing a gym membership or maybe some walking / running shoes.
Are you looking for answers? The answer is simple, its fear that stops you from seeing it.
If you want to lose weight, then;
Eat less calories then you burn during the day.
If you want to stay alive longer;
Make sure those calories come from nutrient rich foods and not junk.
If you eat a balance of the right foods, you don’t have to count calories. There is no way to get too many. 1 lb of leafy greens such as spinach contains aprox. 100 calories. Aprox. 80 calories in an apple, 118 in a banana, 131 in an orange. If we focused our food intake so that it consisted of 90% of fruits and vegetables, most of us would lose substantial weight.
Now I know I’ve said this before but I always get the same questions. Which diet are you on? How many calories do you take in per day? and What supplements should I take?
I’ve lost 46 lbs between Sept 1 2008, and Jan 20th 2009 and I’m still losing weight quickly. I don’t currently take supplements, I don’t count calories, I just exercise, eat healthy (mostly fruits and vegetables) and the weight is coming off. You can do this also.
If you’re still hell bent on spending your part of the 60 billion, there is a donate button on the upper right hand corner of the blog. Send some $$$ to me, I’ll pay my gym membership off and buy some veggies.
Good health and Good night.
While I believe all the statistics in this article to be fairly accurate they are rough estimates and are meant to make a point. I didn’t spend hours verifying their sources because even if the actually number was a fraction of what I’ve stated, my points would remain the same.
